Phil’s Unexpected Cancer Journey—and the Faith That Carried Him – Healing Cancer

In February 2023, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 prostate cancer. One part of my prostate had the more common slow-growing form, but another part carried a more aggressive, fast-growing type. A year earlier, my PSA level had more than doubled, but unfortunately, that red flag wasn’t addressed by my doctor—a separate story for another time.
In July 2023, I underwent a radical prostatectomy. Ten months later, I began an eight-week course of proton radiation therapy—five days a week—along with hormone therapy to drastically reduce my testosterone levels during and after treatment.
Given my PSA was 23.6, cancer was found in both seminal vesicles, and my Gleason score was 8, my chance of recurrence remains high to very high.
Today, however, my PSA is undetectable. I thank God every day and pray it stays that way—that the cancer never returns.
After doing my own research, I decided to incorporate mistletoe therapy into my holistic approach to fighting cancer. My doctors were supportive, encouraging me to continue my workouts and nutritional supplements. Believe Big’s integrative philosophy aligned with my desire to explore every credible path toward healing. Looking back, I see how everything fell into place. From one connection to the next, each person seemed divinely placed to help guide me. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

After my diagnosis, the only place I consistently found peace was in chapel during Adoration. I spent many hours in prayer at two local chapels. That time grounded me. Prayer became the bedrock of my faith, and my faith is what carried me through.
If you are facing a cancer diagnosis, my advice is this: educate yourself. Seek credible sources, ask questions, and explore every treatment option with your care team. Be mindful—some providers may focus solely on their own methods. Stay diligent and informed.
God bless,
Phillip V.
