From Survivor to Thriver: Why Whole-Person Healing Matters After Cancer
June is National Cancer Survivor Month, a time to honor every person who has faced cancer and made it through.
At Believe Big, we deeply celebrate survivors. Every story matters. Every life matters. Every person who has walked through diagnosis, treatment, uncertainty, and fear deserves to be honored.
But we also love another word: Thriver.
To us, a survivor is someone who made it through. A thriver is someone who is being supported in living with strength, hope, and quality of life. Thriving does not mean life is perfect. It does not mean the cancer journey was easy. It means the whole person is being cared for, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
That is why Believe Big exists.
We help patients and families navigate the overwhelming process of cancer care by bridging the gap between conventional and complementary medicine. We believe patients should be educated, connected, and supported as they ask important questions, explore integrative options, and build a care team that looks at the whole person.
For many patients and survivors, the questions do not end when treatment ends.
They may still be asking:
- How do I support my body now?
- How do I rebuild strength?
- How do I reduce fear and anxiety?
- How do I improve my quality of life?
- What questions should I ask my oncologist?
- What complementary therapies may support me alongside conventional care?
These are exactly the kinds of conversations we believe matter.
National Cancer Survivor Month is not just a moment to look back and say, “You made it.” It is also a moment to look forward and ask, “What would it look like to truly thrive?” That is the heart behind our upcoming Integrative Cancer Symposium.
This symposium will bring together important conversations around whole-person cancer care, integrative oncology, survivorship, quality of life, and hope for patients and families.
Because surviving is powerful. But thriving is the vision.
Join us at the Integrative Cancer Symposium and be part of a bigger conversation about what cancer care can become.
Resources to Help You Thrive
This month, we are highlighting several Believe Big resources created to support patients and caregivers throughout the cancer journey.
Key Questions to Ask Your Oncologist
Knowing what to ask can help patients feel more confident and informed. This resource helps guide conversations around treatment options, complementary therapies, nutrition, quality of life, and how to build a collaborative care team.
Mistletoe Therapy Information
Many patients want to better understand complementary therapies that may support quality of life during and after treatment. Believe Big helps educate patients on mistletoe therapy and connects them with trained practitioners when appropriate.

Nutrition, Lifestyle & Wellness Support
Small daily choices can make a meaningful difference. From hydration and healthy oils to sleep rhythms, movement, gratitude, and non-toxic home choices, Believe Big encourages practical steps that support whole-person health. The “How Healthy Are You?” quiz includes questions around hydration, sleep, movement, gratitude, healthy oils, and annual testing as helpful reflection points.
Patient Advocacy & Support
Patients often need someone to help them understand next steps and find trusted resources. Believe Big patient advocates help connect families with education, support, and integrative practitioners.
